This cosy Whakatane hotel is the perfect place to stay if you’re planning to take a day cruise to Whakaari/White Island, go kayaking, or hike the Nga Tapuwae o Toi (In the Footsteps of Toi) walkway. White Island Rendezvous is a small complex with a total of 27 units, a combination of studios, 2-bedroom units, 3-bedroom units, and apartments in a separate villa. Free wireless internet access is available in all accommodations. All units are non-smoking and feature satellite TV, en-suite bathrooms, and ironing facilities. Deluxe units are equipped with remote-controlled air-conditioning and heating, with heated bathroom mirrors. For those staying in the Front Villa or the Back Villa, breakfast at the on-site PeeJays Coffee House is included in the room rate, or they can request it be brought to the villa at no additional charge. The New Zealand couple who own White Island Rendezvous also run one of the few tour companies licensed to take visitors on day cruises to see the active stratovolcano that is Whakaari/White Island. The hotel and villa are located right across the road from picturesque Whakatane Wharf. From the property, it’s a 10 minute walk to the start of the Kohi Point Scenic Track through Kapu Te Rangi Historic Reserve. The town centre of Whakatane is approx. 2.6 km/1.6 miles from the hotel, but there are shops and restaurants within walking distance. White Island Rendezvous is approx. 9 km/5.6 miles from the Whakatane Golf Course and Whakatane Airport.
