The hotel was founded in the 14th century by the monks of Bruern Abbey and later used as a royal hunting lodge by Queen Elizabeth I. Through the centuries it has maintained its charm and many original features remain, including the 14th century gateway and the double-braced roof structure of the Great Hall. The hotel?s intimate restaurant is ideal for those wishing to dine in calm and tranquility while the courtyard provides the perfect setting for al fresco dining in the summer. Serving traditional British cuisine, only the finest quality fresh ingredients and local produce are used whenever possible. The Monk's Bar is overflowing with character (as are the locals!) and provides the perfect setting for guests and locals to enjoy real ales, fine wines and excellent food.
