Comprised of traditional stone bungalows, the Barcelo Sangho Privilege Tataouine is built in a valley surrounded by mountains in the village of Tataouine in the south of Tunisia. This hotel features 86 guestrooms decorated in classic Tunisian style, housed in single- level stone bungalows built in traditional Troglodyte fashion. All feature Tunisian fabrics and include air conditioning, telephones and terraces overlooking the gardens or palm grove. Sun worshippers can head down to the outdoor pool for a day of swimming or lounging with cocktails from the poolside bar; snacks are available from the poolside pizzeria. Guests can enjoy dining in two restaurants, one buffet style and one serving a la carte regional specialities. There is also a Moorish style cafe where guests can enjoy coffees in the afternoon, either on the terrace overlooking the oasis and the mountains or in the air-conditioned cafe watching television. For those feeling energetic there are two onsite tennis courts, and a volleyball pitch. The hotel offers a number of excursions including discovering the troglodyte villages in the caves, camel tours, and bicycle and hiking trips. Guests benefit from the services of a 24-hour front desk and a shop selling essential items; other practical amenities include free secure parking and currency exchange. The centre of Tataouine is two kilometres away and the village is well known for its antique Roman bastions. The troglodyte village of Chennai, in the mountains, is 25 kilometres away. The hotel is at the edge of the Sahara desert and surrounded by 1,000 year old mountains and there are plenty of opportunities for cycling and hiking in the region.
