The Portland Arms Hotel is located near the wild, rough Caithness coast, on the edge of an old fishing village in Lybster. It provides guests with the ideal base for exploring the far north and the Orkney Islands.

Opened in 1850 as a Coaching Inn, this establishment is one of the best and friendliest hotels in the North. The fabulous restaurant ""The Kitchen"" offers traditional, country dishes in the atmosphere of a farmhouse, whilst the Bistro Bar has contemporary food, using some of the best ingredients in Scotland. The spacious lounge welcomes visitors with its warm and friendly setting, in which guests may while away the evenings in front of a log fire. The establishment comprises a total of 22 rooms, a lobby area, a hotel safe, a bar, 3 restaurants, conference facilities, room and laundry services and parking for those arriving by car.

The welcoming and attractively fitted out rooms have all modern conveniences to guarantee guests a comfortable stay. They all come with an en suite bathroom with hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, a radio and Internet access. Tea and coffee making facilities, ironing facilities, a double bed and heating are also provided in every room as standard.

It is possible to book a Bed & Breakfast stay. Dinner may be taken la carte.
