The surrounding area offers tranquil escapes from urban life; within a short drive are Marais Vernier wildlife sanctuary and the Brotonne Forest. Also within travelling distance are the wide sandy beaches and boardwalks of Deauville-Trouville, plus the historic cities of Le Havre and Rouen. The hotel is housed in a large converted 19th century mansion set on a small islet, surrounded by the serene water of the River Risle. The grounds comprise a 5 acre landscaped park replete with rose bushes, extensive lawns and century old trees. Onsite facilities include both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, sauna, small fitness area and table tennis tables. Spa services include a full range of professional massages. Bicycles can be hired upon reservation to explore the local countryside, plus rowing boats and canoe rides on the river are possible. The hotel restaurant spreads from the Victorian rotunda to a conservatory overlooking the grounds and pool. The interiors feature original paintings and antique mirrors, while the original cuisine offered blends seasonal flavours with traditional ingredients. Standard rooms are classically decorated with period furniture and en suite bathrooms, some of which are marble clad. Amenities include free Wi-Fi internet access, a TV with international channels, mini-bar and telephone. There is free parking onsite. |
