Uluru Camel Express, Sunrise or Sunset Tours
Explore the great Central Australian desert from the back of a camel! You can ride at sunrise, sunset or in the morning, accompanied by an expert guide who will show you the desert wildlife and plant life, and regale you with colorful anecdotes about life in this remarkable region.
Camels are ideally suited to the hot, dry climate of Australia's interior. Imported here in the 19th century, they remained the principal means of Outback transport until railways and roads were established. Today there are an estimated 200,000 one-humped, dromedary camels in the wild. Though few camels are used by humans today, a relaxed, slow-paced camel ride is the perfect way to tour the fascinating ecology of the desert ? with the breathtaking view of Uluru as your backdrop.
Camel to Sunrise (2.5 hours):
A peaceful one-hour camel ride through stunning sand dune country with the awe-inspiring backdrop of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Take in the cool morning air and watch as the rising sun lights Uluru and the surrounding plains. You'll enjoy billy tea and freshly baked beer bread after the ride.
Camel to Sunset (2.5 hours):
Travel for an hour on a friendly camel and enjoy a close-up look at the desert environment and great views of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. A refreshing glass of champagne or beer and bush snacks await you at the end of the ride.
Camel Express (1.5 hours):
Catch the Camel Train and enjoy a 45-minute ride on a good-natured camel through the classic Central Australian desert landscape, with views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
