Sunrise Delhi Small Group Tour
Rise early and watch Delhi come to life in a frenzy of colors, smells and sounds. In a small group, maximum 12 people, your local guide will lead you through the action packed streets to experience the massive working bee that prepares India for the day ahead. Feel the buzz of negotiation at the local flower markets, see morning prayers, enjoy a traditional India breakfast and hang out with the locals at the Bangla Sweet Shop, a Delhi institution.
Your journey begins with a visit to the local flower market. You'll have the opportunity to interact with the local vendors and learn about the significance of flowers in Indian culture. Continue to Hauman Temple. where your guide will give you an insight into the morning Puja (prayers) and the temple's history. You'll also learn about Lord Hanuman, who is one of the important characters in the Indian epic, the Ramayana. This small but elegant temple was constructed in 1724 and has become very popular with devotees of Lord Hanuman. A highlight of the temple is the continuous chanting that has been sounding out 24 hours a day from the temple since August 1st, 1964.
Following the temple visit, there is time for a delicious Indian breakfast at one of the most authentic Indian restaurants serving great Indian coffee.
After breakfast, walk through the lively inner lanes of Hanuman Road and towards the famous Sikh Temple -Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. (Please ensure that you are dressed to cover your knees and elbows as a matter of respect to Sikh religion.) Here we get opportunity to sit inside the Sikh temple and witness the daily prayers and chants in presence of the Sikh holy book. You'll be offered some sweet Prasad to eat along with devotes of the temple.
The next stop is the Cathedral Church of Redemption -one of the fine architecture designs of Lutyens' Delhi and a stark contrast from the other temples visited.
The final stop is a visit to one of the most famous local eating hang outs - a Bangla Sweet Shop. Quick bite snacks and sumptuous sweets here will make you slurp your fingers, certainly not to be missed. The sweet shop here dates back to year 1957 and is a family run business continuing over generations.
At the end of the trip you are free for personal exploration or alternatively your local guide can assist with arranging a taxi back to your hotel.
