Wander through the markets in the Monstiraki area, see classical Roman and Ottoman monuments of the city including the Ancient Agora and soak up the atmosphere in the Plaka's narrow paved streets that pass many of the city's Ancient sites on this three-hour private walking tour of Athens.

Syntagma Metro station, where your tour begins contains many archaeological exhibits including ancient grave stones, an aqueduct from the 5th century BC, pottery, a 2,000-year old beehive and a mosaic from the 5th century AD.

Heading down to Mitropoleos Square where you can visit the Cathedral which began construction on Christmas day in 1842. It remains a major city landmark and the site of important ceremonies like coronations of royals and weddings and funerals of the rich and famous.

Continuing on to the Monastiraki area, you will also see Roman and Ottoman monuments such as the Tower of the winds, he Fethiye Mosque, the Medrese, Hadrian's Library and Tzistarakis Mosque. After wandering through the colorful Flea Market you will arrive at the Ancient Agora. Wander around the site that was first developed in the 6th century BC and visit the Agora's museum housed in the Attalos Stoa.

After strolling through Avyssinias Square, your tour will end at Athinas Road where you may be drawn to the sights and smells of the colorful oriental food and spice market.
