Private Tour: Luxor Day Trip from Hurghada

Tour the ancient city of Luxor in luxury on a private day trip from Hurghada. Accompanied by your private Egyptologist guide you'll see the famous West Bank sites including the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple, constructed in honor of one of the few female rulers of ancient Egypt. Your private tour also includes a felucca ride on the Nile, and a horse and carriage ride in Luxor.

Valley of the Kings
The kings' formal names and titles are inscribed in each tomb, along with their images and statues. The ancient kings of the 18th to 20th dynasties abandoned the Memphis area and built their tombs in Thebes (modern-day Luxor). Also abandoned were the pyramid-style tombs. Instead, most of the tombs were cut into the limestone following a similar pattern: three corridors, an antechamber and a sunken sarcophagus chamber. These catacombs were hard to rob and easily concealed.

Hatshepsut Temple
A tree-lined avenue of sphinxes led up to the temple, and ramps led from terrace to terrace. The porticoes on the lowest terrace were restored in 1906 to protect the celebrated reliefs depicting the transport of obelisks to Karnak and the birth of Queen Hatshepsut. Reliefs on the south side of the middle terrace show the queen's expedition by way of the Red Sea to Punt, the land of incense.
