Napa Valley Wine Country Day Trip and Alcatraz Tour
Visit two of San Francisco's most popular attractions - Alcatraz and the Napa Valley wineries. After a relaxing day of wine tasting and a picnic lunch, return to busy San Francisco, only to explore the notorious Alcatraz prison the following day!
Taste premier Cabernet Sauvignons, Cabernet Francs, Pinot Noirs as well as reserve bruts from the best known wineries in Napa. Winery visits include Domaine Chandon (sparkling), Andretti Winery, V. Sattui and Rutherford Ranch. You will receive a ticket for the following day to visit the famous island of Alcatraz.
The combination of a medium sized group (up to 40 maximum) and a separate driver and tour guide, will give you plenty of opportunity to ask questions during the day. During the ride to Napa, your guide will give you an introduction to the famous region and the wines you may taste today. Your guide will also provide 101 instruction on wine tasting.
After wine tasting at V. Sattui, you can order what you like from a wide selection at the deli. There are cheese, sausage and olive plates as well as meat or vegetarian sandwiches to choose from.
The return trip to San Francisco from Napa Valley is by ferry. You can go outside or stay inside the boat during the 50-minute calm water cruise across the bay catching great views of Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge, the city of San Francisco, as well as the Golden Gate Bridge.
The day after your wine tour, you'll jump on the ferry to discover where various notorious inmates were incarcerated at Alcatraz, one of San Francisco's most popular attractions. This penitentiary, formally known as "The Rock", is famous for having housed ruthless criminals such as Al Capone (Scarface) and Machine Gun Kelly. You will receive the opportunity to explore this renowned landmark and tour its spooky cell blocks.
