Hotel Overview : The Villas At Stonehaven Bay

The Villas at Stonehaven offer luxury, and beauty, like no other in the Caribbean!
Some would ask what are the Villas at Stonehaven, is it villas or is it a hotel. We are both a melding of two worlds where you can get the private, spacious feel of a villa with some of the amenities that a hotel offers. We offer room service six days a week, have full concierge service, and on property restaurant, Bar and Lounge, and conference facility.

Stonehaven Villas were first envisioned by Hugh Avey and Brenda Farfan back in the mid ninety’s. They had recently completed a development in the area and considered trying their hand at property development again. They noticed that Tobago lacked upmarket luxury properties. Something to put Tobago on the map. A piece of land was found overlooking Stonehaven bay, with breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. Now they had to find an architect that could design a property to match the location. Having recently worked with Arne Hasselqvist, Hugh decided to bring him onto the project. Arne was a famous Swedish architect who had his own international architectural firm and had built homes for Princess Margaret, Mick Jagger, Tommy Hilfiger, and David Bowie. After seeing the location and noticing it’s potential Arne got to work on designing 14 luxury villas that would all over look the ocean. The construction was started in 1998 and was finished in 2000. The completed product has 14 luxury three bedroom villas, designed in a French Colonial style each with 50 foot covered verandas and it’s own private infinity edge pool.

When you arrive up to the villa you will notice the large plantation style doors and windows made of Andiroba, along with the well manicured gardens. On entering the living room a cool Caribbean air sweeps across the room from the veranda. The living room roof is made of Greenheart imported from Guyana and the furniture locally made in Trinidad and Tobago. Why stop at the living room as the real prize is outside the eight foot bifolding doors, the covered veranda. The Veranda has a dining room table seating six along with a porch set, so that you can spend you afternoons sipping a freshly made rum punch, watching the sun paint another masterpiece on the setting Caribbean sky. You can also just relax in your own private infinity edge swimming pool and cool off from the midday sun.
Now it’s off to the well stocked kitchen with its granite top. On arrival your housekeeper would have laid out a basket of fresh fruit ready to be eaten on your arrival. She can also prepare continental breakfast for you everyday from a complimentary starter and serve you on your veranda. Once the starter is used, all you have to do is replenish the items and your housekeeper can continue to cook you a continental breakfast at no charge. Other meals can also be cooked for a small charge or you can order room service from the Pavilion restaurant.

The first bedroom, know as the “beige room” is situated downstairs and has a large 7-foot wide bed. The bedroom opens up onto the veranda, so this would be a great bedroom for someone who doesn’t like to use stairs. The bedrooms on the second floor, both boast private balconies with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. The “blue room” has a large king bed while the “coral room” has two single beds. All bedrooms are air-conditioned, and have their own en-suite bathrooms.

The villas are also equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi Access, cable TV in the living room, telephones, alarm clocks, and a safe in the villa.

The Pavilion is a small intimate restaurant boasting one of the best views of the Caribbean sea in Tobago. It’s also a great place to just have a cocktail and enjoy a sunset either outside or by the bar. From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Stonehaven offers half price cocktails at the bar where if you ask for a “Hurricane” you won’t have to run for cover or a “Passion Cooler” will start off your evening on the right foot. The Pavilion is also a great place to have lunch or dinner, Tuesday through Sunday.

Stonehaven has also become internationally known as a top wedding venue, especially since you can stay at the same location that you are having the reception and service. With a spectacular backdrop for the wedding, combined with beautiful architecture, great food and service Stonehaven will make your dream wedding a reality.
