This is the only three star luxury hotel in Shigatse, located in the far south of the town. The  Tashilhunpo Monastery is about one km away and the Bank of China is almost next door. If you are heading west, this is the only place to cash your travelers' cheques before you reach Zhangmu. The Shigatse Hotel ( Rikaze fandian ) has been reecently renovated and the hotel provide single rooms, double rooms and a suite. Orchard Hotel Shigatse

The Orchard Hotel ( Guoyuan luguan ) is another place that houses a fair number of foreigners. The hotel is perfectly located, opposite the entrance to the Tashilhunpo Monastery. The hotel has a Chinese style outlook, provides pretty cheap dorm beds and double rooms. Hot water is available in some of the rooms, although as it is solar powered, in practice this is fairly problematic. Tenzin Hotel Shigatse

The most popular budget hotel in Shigatse is the Tenzin Hotel. This delightful little inn is conveniently located in the middle of town, about twenty minutes walk from the bus station. Opposite the hotel is a market, a good place to go looking for souvenirs. This is a friendly and busy hotel, providing dorm beds and standard double rooms, some with attached bathrooms and great views of the Tashilhunpo Monastery . There is only one toilet here and two erratic showers. Hot water is supplied 24 hours a day, but is not that reliable. Gyantse Hotel Shigatse

All the guesthouses in Gyantse were closed to foreigners in May 1997, and the Gyantse Hotel ( Jiangzi fandian ) is the only hotel open to foreigners in town. The hotel is located a couple of hundred meters south of the main traffic intersection on the road to Shigatse. This two star hotel, with Chinese style outlook, has a gorgeous and spacious lobby. It's provides single and double room with attached bathroom, and there is also deluxe suite. Rooms over here are clean and comfortable, and hot water is supplied 24 hours a day.
