The hotel is located just 10 minutes drive from Nyaung U Airport. It is well maintained tropical garden setting, including some large established old trees, by the banks of the Ayeyarwady river. On the other side of the Archaeological Museum from the Thiripyitsaya Sakura hotel, with the 11th century Gawdawpalin Temple rising above the property on the side away from the river. All day dining at the Ya Tha Min Gyi cafe in a block just before reaching the reception-there are a few outdoor tables on a narrow terrace for al fresco meals. Tandipa River Terrace and Gardens serves the same fare as Ya Tha Min Gyi, from a short selection of local and international dishes, but in the open air as the name suggests (subject to weather conditions, generally open October-April). For drinks with snacks the outdoor Koe Lone Village bar obliges from 10:00-midnight outside of the monsoon season, whilst the Setkupan Yard does similar all year round. One storey teak buildings linked by terracotta brick walkways, designed in Burmese fashion to blend in with the majectic surroundings. The shrubbery lends a homely touch. Medium sized lobby lounge with decoration reflecting the local heritage. Ample for one standard sized group to check in. |
